World Book Day

This year, each class chose one book or author on which to base their learning. The children dressed up as either a character from that book or a character from another book by the same author.

Acorn class chose 'The very hungry caterpillar' by Eric Carle.

Willow class chose 'We're going on a bear hunt' by Michael Rosen.

Beech class chose 'There's a pharaoh in my bath!' by Jeremy Strong.

Oak class chose from a range of book read in class, or independently, by Michael Morpurgo.

Poetry Competition

Our poetry competition took place in the week beginning 26th February. Our judges were Mrs Cobb, Mrs Plumb and Mrs Davey. The children learnt a poem of their choice (or one that they had written) and then had to recite the poem to the judges.

There were so many fantastic renditions, that the judges awarded 31 prizes. The poetry competition is designed to give children life skills when it comes to presenting themselves in front of others. It is a difficult thing to stand up and talk in front of an audience, but a skill that will be useful to the children as they grow up. The focus was also on delivery and expression, and the children were encouraged to add actions where appropriate.

Well done to all the children at Benington.

Thank you!

Benington School have been supporting a family in crisis. We would like to thank all our children and parents so much for their generosity. We have been totally overwhelmed with the support for our family. Thank you to Mrs Traill and Mrs Browne for packaging everything so beautifully. We will be delivering everything to Beane valley and thanks to them all, two little girls and their mum should be able to have a happier Christmas. We hope you can support us for their birthdays too.

Thank you, Miss Webb-Ingall and Mrs Presland

Remembrance Day

The Children at Benington School have been taking the time to think about those who gave their lives for their country, so they can enjoy the freedom they have today. In order to show their appreciation to those who not only gave their lives, but to anybody who may have fought or contributed to the war effort in any conflicts, from the 1st world war up to the present day, a Remembrance Board was created displaying photos, with information about who they were, their relationship to the pupil and any other interesting information.
