Caring for our Environment
Sustainability Statement
As a Church of England school, we recognise our responsibility to care for God’s creation and to act as faithful stewards of the world entrusted to us. Our new Sustainability action plan sets out our commitment to protecting the environment, reducing waste and nurturing a culture of responsibility across our school community.
We believe that sustainability is not only a practical duty but also a spiritual one. The Christian value of stewardship teaches us to respect, protect and value the natural world. By embedding sustainable practices into school life, we help children understand that caring for creation is an expression of love, justice and hope for future generations.
Our commitment includes:
-
Reducing energy use and waste across the school
-
Encouraging recycling and responsible consumption
-
Promoting outdoor learning and appreciation of the natural world
-
Choosing environmentally responsible resources wherever possible
-
Working with our church community to support projects that protect creation
-
Teaching pupils about climate responsibility, compassion and global citizenship
Through these actions, we aim to inspire pupils to think deeply about their role in caring for the environment. Our partnership with St Peter’s Church strengthens this commitment, as together we promote sustainability as part of our shared Christian mission.
By living out these values, we hope to empower all children to become thoughtful, responsible caretakers of God’s world—both now and in the future.

Recycling at Benington School
Here at Benington School, we’ve been making a concerted effort to recycle and reduce more this year.
- We re-use paper when only one side has been used
- We recycle paper, plastic, glass, batteries and crisp packets
- We have pre-loved uniform available for parents to help themselves to
How can you help?
- FOBS run ‘Bags2School’ several times a year which is a fundraising initiative where used clothes are reused and recycled. Please look out for notifications about when you can bring along your 2nd hand to school.
Please bring your second hand clothes to school.
We hope this will help encourage children to recycle more at home.
Please support us with our endeavour and spread the word.
