The school has close links with St Peter’s Church and the priest visits the school regularly for school assemblies. School services are held at St Peters, including our Easter service, our year 6 leavers service and our Christmas carol service.
The school choir often sings at church services, in particular, on Mothering Sunday and at the Christmas Carol Service.
Children from the school have also been involved with decorating St. Peter’s Church for its Floral Festival by making displays.

Links with the Wider Community
We have always supported a number of charities here at Benington Primary School; including Children in Need, Red Nose Day, World Vision, Jeans for Genes, the Children’s Society, NSPCC and Book Aid International.
We have asked children to consider their links with other parts of the world, and to think about the differences and similarities between our lives. We have recently made links with children at a school in India…..
International Links with India
At Benington , we are very proud to be linked with St Mary’s School, Singla Valley , Darjeeling, India. St Mary’s school nestles amongst the tea gardens of Singla in the Himalayan foothills 17km from the town of Darjeeling. Currently the school has 480 students from the Singla Valley. Some of them walk at least an hour to reach the school. The School has 14 teachers and three non-teaching staff.
We asked children to consider their links with other parts of the world, and to think about the differences and similarities between our lives. Children were asked to bring in photos of places they had been and people they knew or had met in other countries.
In December 2017 we made our first link with St Mary’s when Mr Preston, a sponsor of the school, came to visit us. He told the staff and the children all about St Mary’s School in Singla. We all immediately were keen to start building a friendship.
With Mr Preston’s help, we have also enjoyed sending letters and pictures to the school to introduce ourselves.
We are looking to grow our link with the school and believe it is important for our children to have an understanding of what is happening internationally too. We want to spark children’s intellectual, emotional and social curiosity, build their respect for diversity and allow them to practice the Christian values they have learnt.
